6 SPEAKERS IN AN UNCONSTRAINED VIBE
Following the successful previous editions of FRAUDtalks, we were proud to bring the 2018 edition of this unique format. 6 acclaimed speakers each dazzled the audience with an inspiring 18-minutes talk. FRAUDtalks 2018 brought a powerful program and an unconstrained vibe where insurance professionals got connected and shared ideas worth spreading.
Fred has been active as a national politician for over more than a decade. First as member of the Dutch Parliament followed by appointment as Dutch Cabinet Minister for Migration and State Secretary for Security and Justice. He is well versed on the political aspects which exist in both public and private organisations.
Before becoming a politician Fred had 30+ year experience in the investigation and prosecution of financial crime. During his career as chief investigator and prosecutor he developed a deep understanding of financial crime risks. All his positions came with media attention where he gained experience in media and reputation management. Fred is an experienced leader of teams at strategic, tactical and operational level.
Fred will use his experience in public speaking and audience engagement to host FRAUDtalks 2018!
Joe Stephenson, CIFI, CSMIE is the current Managing Director of SIU for Hagerty, a classic car insurer, and has been in the insurance industry for well over a decade. He has close to 30 years of investigative experience, having started his career in law enforcement working in the area of child sexual assault investigations, and eventually becoming an accredited accident reconstructionist. As an expert in the field of social media investigations, Joe lectures frequently to insurance, finance, and government professionals on how to leverage free online resources and to think outside the box with today’s available data.
Joe also sits on several committees for both the International IASIU & IAATI organizations, he has a regular column in SIU Today magazine, and has been a featured columnist in the APB magazine and PropertyCasualty360.
Nicolas works as senior analyst at Celent. His research concentrates on continental European insurance markets with a specific focus on continental Europe and insurance systems including life policy administration, customer communication management, predictive analytics and data technology providers. Nicolas started his career in the financial industry with CREDIT SUISSE. He moved to the insurance sector after completing his MBA, taking over a management position at UNIQA, the Swiss subsidiary of the second largest Austrian insurance company.
Nicolas has been often quoted in specialized insurance and IT magazines including Insurance Networking News, Insurance & Technology, and PropertyCasualty360 (a National Underwriter website) and also in international newspapers’ websites such as The New York Times, The Guardian, CBS News and Tages Anzeiger.
Nico Declercq is an expert in the field of interview techniques, body language and lie detection. Hij works as commissioner at the Belgian police force and used to lecture at multiple police academies. He is also a senior lecturer in lie detection at the education for private detectives in Belgium. Besides his activities for the police, Nico trains insurers, government officials and other organizations.
The topic of his FRAUDtalk is “How Liars Tell The Truth”
“Lying requires fantasy, acting talent and memory” – a very true quote by Nietzsche. In a fascinating and humoristic way Nico Declercq will take you into the world of lies and deceit. Via a unique approach he will show how you can easily uncover a liar’s ‘true story’ by making the right observations and asking direct questions.
Stephan R. Peters works for SCHUFA Holding AG since 2007 and is responsible for Digital Identity and Fraud Prevention in the business unit of “Innovation and Strategic Analysis” as well as the development of the SCHUFA FraudPool – the central fraud database for the German credit industry, which was developed in a strong cooperation with FRISS. He previously worked for Schober Direktmarketing, the EOS Group and the Fair Isaac Corporation (FICO). He has many years of experience in the information services sector and is considered a proven expert in fraud prevention.
Christina Fiscella has spent the last year 23 years of her career combating insurance fraud in a variety of roles. She has served as an SIU investigator for several large P&C insurance carriers, investigating multi-faced, complex and sometimes high profile, auto and property claims including large scale arsons and thefts, saving companies tens of millions from by stopping fraudulent payouts.
Economic stress, along with accumulating health issues and driving medical costs, have forced some members of the baby boomer generation to place fraudulent insurance claims to either supplement their income, support a once lavish life style, or simply to survive.
Christina tells the real life stories of fraudulent insurance claims that were presented by different types of “elderly” people who wanted to cash in on their insurance policies.
Peter A. de Kock graduated as filmmaker from the Film Academy of the Amsterdam School of the Arts, and has travelled the world as a professional film director. After receiving a Master degree in Criminal Investigation, he was offered a position as team leader of a covert section of the Royal and Diplomatic Protection Service of the Dutch National Police, where he introduced creative scenarios to anticipate (terrorist) attacks. The operational results of his team were thought provoking and De Kock was invited to demonstrate his method of operation to prominent members of Dutch Parliament and the Ministry of Security and Justice. Following one of these presentations, he was offered the opportunity to pursue the use of scenarios to anticipate crime, as an external Ph.D. student at Tilburg University. In 2014 De Kock earned his Ph.D. by defending his thesis Anticipating Criminal Behaviour. Two years later he resigned from the Police force to found Pandora Intelligence and he assumed the position of Chief Imagination Officer

EYE Film Museum is a Dutch archive and museum in Amsterdam that preserves and presents both Dutch and foreign films screened in the Netherlands. The earliest materials date from the start of the film industry in the Netherlands in 1895. EYE is also host of the Fraud Film Festival.
